Question
Will Information Technology Services (ITS) install software on my personal device that I need for a class?
Answer
Beginning Aug. 1, 2025, ITS will no longer assist with the installation of Windows virtual machines on personal Mac devices. This includes software like VirtualBox/UTM and Parallels.
However, ITS will still assist students with installing approved software such as SAS on their personal devices, as long as the personal device already has an approved Windows operating system installed.
Please contact ITS to arrange installation via drop-off or virtual appointment.
There are no costs for software installations. Please take note of the guidelines listed below:
Guidelines
- A power adapter must be provided for in-person service. The power adapter should be usable without damage.
- Supported operating systems include Windows 10, 11, and macOS 14 (Sonoma) or newer with a Windows OS already installed.
SAS (Statistical Analysis System): Software for data analysis and report writing
- The computer must have at least 50GB available on the hard drive for proper installation.
- SAS can only be installed on Windows operating systems. To use with Apple devices, the student will be responsible for installing the Windows operating system onto their Apple device before dropping it off to ITS for the SAS install. More information on that process can be found here: Obtaining and Installing a Windows 11 Virtual Machine (Students Only)
